Where Does Restylane Work?

Everyone’s skin ages differently and Restylane-L and Perlane-L may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas. From smile lines to vertical lip lines, you can smooth away unwanted wrinkles and restore natural contours.

Smile Lines (or “Parenthesis”)

Smile lines, or nasolabial folds, run vertically from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth. This is a popular treatment area that many women seek help with. While individual results may vary, after just one Restylane-L or Perlane-L treatment, most patients see a real difference; with a noticeable softening of the smile lines.

Marionette Lines

Marionette Lines are the vertical facial wrinkles and folds that form below the corners of the mouth. These lines can sometimes give the appearance of a sagging and/or downturned expression.

Vertical Lip Lines

Facial wrinkles above and around the lips can begin to appear over time due to ordinary lip muscle movement. The good news is that Restylane Silk dermal filler can soften those with typically just one treatment.

How Do Restylane and Perlane Work?

Restylane and Perlane are available to any licensed physician. However, for best results you should always trust your skin to a provider with specific training in skin and aesthetic medicine, such as the board-certified dermatologists at Anderson & Rahman Dermatology. Drs. Rahman and Anderson have years of experience in medical and surgical treatments of the skin.

In many offices in Knoxville, physicians delegate the injection of Juvaderm to technicians who may have minimal or no medical training. You may also have seen “medi-spas” popping up throughout the Knoxville area. Many of these centers do not even have a physician on the premises! Recent articles in The New York Times and CNN have stressed the importance of having a qualified physician administer your treatments, stating it is “crucial that people check the credentials and experience of those who offer cosmetic treatments”. It is vital that you insist on having a highly qualified, specifically trained provider perform your injections. Trust your skin to one of Knoxville’s leading experts in Restylane and Perlane!

Restylane and Perlane Recovery Time

With Restylane and Perlane there is minimal recovery or downtime after the procedure. Following your treatment, you should refrain from alcohol consumption for 24 hours and from exercise for 6 hours. It is important not to massage the area treated for 24 hours. This helps the product “settle” without disturbing the location where it was injected. There is a risk of bruising and swelling which usually lasts only a few days.

What Preparation is Required?

To minimize bruising or bleeding, patients are advised to avoid aspirin (unless prescribed by your doctor), ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements 10-14 days prior to your Restylane or Perlane treatment.

How Long do Restylane and Perlane Last?

Restylane products are made of a natural substance normally found in the skin, so they are eventually absorbed by the body. Restylane and Perlane provide effect for an average of 6-9 months.. The effect varies depending on the type of skin, areas, and amounts injected.
